Scranton is a city located in the northeast section of the state of Pennsylvania.
It is the county seat and is located in Lackawanna County.
The city was founded in 1856. It grew and prospered until the middle of the 1940's. After WWII the population of the city began to diminish.
Scranton is now the 7th largest city in Pennsylvania.
As of 2007, the population of Scranton was 72,485. Scranton is the home of the fictitious company "Dunder Mifflin" from the Television Show "The Office".
